Greenwood has 29 years of experience in municipal management and utilities, the last 19 years of which were with the town of Westlake, where he served as director of public works, assistant town manager, deputy town manager and acting town manager during his career. He retired at the end of 2022.
Greenwood and his wife of 29 years, Susan, have three adult children and three grandchildren, and they were co-chairs of Westlake’s Annual Classic Car Show for the last six years. Greenwood holds a Master of Public Administration from Troy University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Texas, and he is a graduate of the Senior Executive Institute from the International City Manager’s Association and has also received a certification as a credentialed manager.
The Denton County Tax Assessor Collector office is reducing its office hours, starting Wednesday.
Denton County Tax Office locations will now be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays. On all other weekdays, it will remain on the 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule.
The new hours will enable staff to continue to serve customers by keeping more up to date with work resulting from motor vehicle dealer sales and mail-in transactions, as well as facilitate continued training, according to a county news release.
“The new hours will enable all of our staff to dedicate this time each Wednesday to performing work that is required to be conducted,” said Michelle French, Denton County tax assessor collector. “We anticipate this will alleviate the need to close one or more offices to the public periodically, as has been done over the course of the last two years.”

Electric vehicle maker Canoo is moving its headquarters from North Texas to northwest Arkansas, where it’s planning a major expansion.
The company, now based in Justin in office space owned by its chairman and CEO Tony Aquila, said Monday it will establish its corporate offices and an “advanced industrialization facility” in Walmart’s hometown of Bentonville, Ark., and create a research and development center in Fayetteville.
Canoo also said it’s on track to begin manufacturing its electric vehicles by late 2022. The R&D center in Fayetteville will support advances in vehicle electronics and powertrain.
“Our discipline continues to be Big News or No News,” Aquila said in a statement issued along with the company’s third-quarter results.

Aquila said he’ll work to complete agreements totaling around $400 million with Arkansas and Oklahoma, where Canoo announced plans in June for its first manufacturing site. That 400-acre assembly plant is planned in Pryor, about 45 minutes east of Tulsa and 90 minutes west of Bentonville.
The agreements include about $100 million in incentives, Aquila said, and another $100 million in vehicle orders with the states and universities where the company is locating facilities.
The company also said it selected Panasonic as the battery maker for its vehicles.
During an investor day in June, Canoo said it has developed a van, a pickup truck and a sedan that all offer front, rear and all-wheel drive. The base model sedan, referred to as a “Lifestyle Vehicle,” will start at $34,750 and will have a range of 250 miles per charge.
Canoo grew its workforce to about 800 employees during the third quarter and completed engineering and design work, the company said.
The company’s ambitious expansion comes as it continues to rack up pre-production losses that totaled $208 million through the first nine months of this year. It had just under $415 million in cash as of Sept. 30.
Aquila’s private equity firm took a $35 million stake in Canoo last summer as the company was early in the process of merging with a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC. Canoo went public and listed on Nasdaq under the ticker GOEV in December.
Aquila took over as chairman and was appointed CEO in April after Canoo co-founder and former BMW executive Ulrich Kranz resigned. Aquila then brought Canoo’s corporate offices from California to Texas and shifted the company’s focus.
He launched his Dallas-based private equity firm, AFV Partners, after stepping down as CEO of the Westlake-based automotive software company Solera Holdings. Aquila later sued Solera for withholding $100 million in stock options that he argued he was owed. The legal battle raised questions about how the company was run during his tenure.
When Canoo selected Oklahoma for its manufacturing plant, Aquila said at the time that Texas was under consideration but he had to decide if the company would be “big enough fish in that pond.” Elon Musk-led Tesla recently moved its headquarters to Texas and is building a massive factory in Austin. New EV-darling Rivian is considering Fort Worth for a $5 billion manufacturing plant that would be its second in the U.S.
Canoo’s Oklahoma factory is expected to employ up to 2,000 people. On Monday, the company said it also will create new R&D, software development and customer support and financing centers in Oklahoma for an additional 700 jobs.
The company said its Arkansas expansion will result in about 545 jobs.
“Canoo’s selection of Northwest Arkansas for its corporate headquarters, technology hub and development facilities is an excellent example of why our state has put so much effort and energy into computer science education and workforce training and development in recent years,” Gov. Asa Hutchinson said in a statement.

Northwest is headed in the right direction after winning its fourth-straight game 73-33 vs. Fort Worth Wyatt on Thursday in a District 4-5A Division II game at Northwest ISD Stadium.
The 73 points marked a season-high and four minutes in, the Texans already had a two-touchdown lead.
Austin Ahmad threw four touchdown passes to three receivers and Montana State commit DeMareus Hosey ran for three scores before the break.
The Texans (5-2, 3-0) scored on their first two drives when Ahmad found Quentin Lee for a 16-yard touchdown pass for a 7-0 lead.
After Wyatt turned the ball over on downs, Northwest scored two plays later on Hosey’s 3-yard run with eight minutes in the first quarter.
Chase Stearns picked off a Wyatt pass attempt, but the Chaparrals got it right back on the following play when Cameren Graves took it 65 yards for a pick-six to cut the lead to 14-6 midway through the first.
Hosey added TD runs in the first half from 37 and 30 yards, and rushed for 158 at the break.
Ahmad threw a 24-yard TD strike to Zavion Taylor and hooked up with Lee again from 19 to give the Texans a 35-6 lead at the end of the opening frame.
Ahmad’s fourth TD pass of the half went to Antonio Reese for 57 yards and Cooper McDonald added a 59-yard pick-six as the Texans nearly matched their previous season-high (59) after one half.
Ahmad went 9 of 16 for 165 yards and added his fifth TD from 26 yards to Lee, who had four catches for 92 yards and three TDs.
Reese caught a 64-yard TD pass from backup Brandon Etchieson in the second half. Northwest gained 455 yards of total offense. Devin Steptoe picked off two passes on defense.
Wyatt (2-3, 1-1) finished with 341 yards. Fields went 22 of 53 for 322 yards and two TDs, and added a TD rush.
He threw 35 and 42-yard scores to Houston commit JT Clark and Toney Green. Clark had seven catches for 145 yards while Green added five catches for 127 yards. Jaemarcus Allen scored on a 26-yard fumble return.
Northwest travels to Fort Worth on Oct. 18 vs. Poly while Wyatt plays Carter-Riverside on Oct. 19.
